GE Profile front load washer making loud noises during final spin

During the final spin, washer was making incredibly loud, banging noises. Some clothes also showed brown grease stains. I removed back panel and found that a piece on the back of the outer tub is completely broken off, as well as another piece on the side. Could this be the issue, or is there something else going on (like bad bearings)? And how do I check the bearings--do I need to remove the tub? The model number is WPXH214FWW.
