Oven won't take input over 260 without producing an "er" display (no code given)

The range is new to us, but we have no user manual.

Everything on the electric Kitchenaid worked great, but now the oven control won't take an input above 260o without producing an "er" display and three beeps. No error code is read out, just "er" and three beeps. Any temp lower works.

The oven self-cleans, the broiler works and the oven works up to 260 degrees. The elements heat up red and I've replaced the temp sensor in hopes its the cheap solution. It wasn't.

I've seen other posts about error codes. How are they displayed? Is there a button sequence to access the codes? The online (and local) prices for the control board beg a new range, so is there something I don't know about the controls that might tell me what is going on? Is there anything to know about the keypad lockout that is noted on the "3" key? Could a lockout of some sort come into play?

EGAD, I don't want to buy a new range!

Thanks for any input.
