Our GE side-by-side is about 29 years old. All repairs to date have been ice maker related. Now the freezer will thaw (gets to about 30 degrees F) occasionally.
When this is happening, the fan in the freezer is not running. Then it will start back up and drop back to 0 degrees F. We have always kept coils clean, etc. I am wondering if this is a timer or something more expensive. Obviously, would not want to spend too much on it, but it still looks new and works great most of the time. So far we have not lost any food. (But we have eaten some soft ice cream.) I will appreciate any help you can give.
