HE 2 noisy when spinning

I have the Kenmore HE2 front load. It is 9 years old (I think). I have replaced the motor once.
I am concerned because it does not seem to be spinning as well as it used to, towels come out a little wetter than they used to! Also yesterday I noticed that it is very noisy when spinning, sounds like rocks are in or around the drum. We live on a farm and I get a lot of "stuff" run through my washer.
I am hoping someone can tell me how to open it up and check to see what if anything is in there. Would like to check it myself rather than calling the repairman.
