Hi--
I have a kenmore model 253.53622300 refrigerator. Last night I noticed that everything in the freezer was getting soft. I cleaned the coils today (dusty but not too bad) When I took the cardboard cover off the back of the fridge I noticed the condenser fan was not spinning. As I was cleaning, I nudged the fan with the end of the vacuum, and the fan started up. The compressor was hot, but I figured that was because the fan had stopped. So I left the back off the fridge for a bit to see what it would do. The freezer started freezing again....maybe luck was with me and it was just dirty. I put the cardboard cover back on and within 5 minutes the fan stopped and the mullion between the doors stared to heat up. I removed the cardboard and after a few minutes it kicked back on. So basically at this point I have a fridge with no back and a compressor that's getting hot. Any ideas? Is there and overload switch that trips when it gets too hot with the cover on?
I appreciate any info.
