Should I have GE refrigerator repaired?

This GE Profile refrigerator was purchased in June 2007, and is generally lightly used in a kitchenette at a place of business. A couple of weeks ago, it was completely loaded up with pop from top to bottom for a party, and, we believe, that this put too much stress on it. As a result, the fan motor and compressor went out, however, we can't be sure that the fan motor had not gone out earlier, but did not cause problems at that time as the surrounding area is well air conditioned. Regardless of whether the fan motor was out before or not, we assume that the fan not working made the condenser go out after it was loaded up with pop. We called GE service (GEappliances.com), not a local authorized dealer / repair company. A GE repairman came out and said it needed new condenser and new fan motor and suggested a new mother board "just to make sure". Total cost just under $800. We thought this was a decent deal given that the refrigerator was $2500 new and, as the repairman said, "basically gives you a new refrigerator when you replace these key parts," so we said go ahead and fix it. However, he needed to order the parts and would come back in a week, A week went by and a different GE repairman came out to look at the refrigerator. He did not have the parts with him, but said he was told to come out to look at the refrigerator (as if it had not already been looked at by a repairman). He looked at it briefly and confirmed that it needed the same parts as the previous repairman, but this repairman recommended that we not fix the refrigerator. He said that when the condenser gets cooked, like this one probably did, the the oil and freon become sludge and even though you replace the key parts, you do not replace the oil and freon, and as such, the refrigerator never cools like it should and will always be susceptible to further problems. We're not sure why this repairman had the exact opposite opinion as the first, but now we are stuck trying to figure out who is really right and whether we fix it or trash it.

Thoughts, please? Thank you.
