Hello All:
About 2.5 years ago, our KitchenAid Superba started to degrade in cooling in both the freezer and fridge at the same time and rate. Every few weeks or so I needed to increase the freezer and fridge controls up to keep the temperature acceptable. I assumed it was a dreaded freon leak and that within a few weeks the freon would all leak out and we were in for a new fridge or major repair as this is a sealed unit.
Then, it stabilized. It stopped degrading and held temeprate and has been so for about 2 years. However, in order to keep it at this "accpetable" temperature, both the freezer and fridge controls have to be fully turned up to MAX which is not normal.
I am assuming its not a freon leak because surely by now (2 years later) it would have all leaked out and completely stopped cooling.
If it is not a freon leak, I assume I need to tackle the various electronics such as thermostat, control board but am unsure as to which in priority.
I have checked the following to date:
1. Condenser coils clean ( I stay on top of that)
2. Evaporater fan in freezer is running and at a good clip
3. COndenser fan is running, and also seems a ta good pace.
Any further input would be greatly appreciated. (While parts are still around :-)
