I have a kenmore side by side refrig, not getting cold.
Checked all fans etc and no ice, all fans running as normal.
Compressor runs for 5-10 seconds (doesnt sould like its fullly running but trying to run) then shuts down.
The COmpressor is an Embraco egy80hlp, is this a failure prone unit if they replace it with the same type?
The top of the compressor is warm to the touch, was hot when I opened it. Not on fire hot but since it was likely trying to start for an hour or so it was hot.
Who makes this refrigerator, and if the compressor is dead, what is the typical cost since the part alone is $300 from searsparts?
Who makes it matters as if the fee is >500 then Ill choose another brand. 9 years is maybe normal but Ill switch brands just to make a point.
Also sears is going to take 5 days to get here, and then order parts, so since it is out of warranty would an independent service person be a better choice?
