whirlpool duet sport wont start cycle

i'll try not to ramble and be precise ...

when u choose any cycle , close the door , and hit start ... the machine locks , goes through a series of clicks ( all which sound normal and have heard before) then does nothing.. no water .. no spin. It then does 1 of 2 things 1.) acts like the cycle is over and unlocks after a few min and some more clicking with no action 2.) gets real confused and the add garment light blinks and wont unlock via the cancel button ,even after an unplugging it still remains locked and i have to let it remain in its locked state until it decides its going to unlock and end whatever cycle it thinks its in

any thoughts ?? there is no error code showing or blinking lights to determine an error of any type
