Can't Change Temperature Setting, Stuck at Factory Default

I have a Side-by-Side Frigidaire/Electrolux Refrigerator (PN: 241851243, manual reads PN: 241856000 April 2007). I'm trying to adjust the temperature of the refrigerator compartment without luck. My refrigerator has the single digit display electronic temperature control, with the default factory temperature setting of "6" for both freezer and fresh food sides.

The issue I'm having is that the electronic temperature control display does not change from the "6" read out. It seems to be stuck at "6." I can press the "Colder" (down) and "Cold" (up) button nine times (the number of settings that there should be, 1-9) before I get three beeps in a row (maybe indicating I can't adjust any more?). Otherwise, I just receive a single acknowledgement beep. As far as I know, the temperature in the fridge is not changing when I make the adjustments. In the mean time, I've adjusted both by pressing "Colder" 9 times in hopes that maybe it will get a bit colder (hovering right at 40°F inside right now).
