I am trying to fix my washing machine myself and think I am almost there. The only problem was that water would not drain, instead a humming noise would occur during that cycle. So I purchased a new drain pump and ran into a problem installing it. It seems the old wires will not connect to the new pump. I am including photos so you can see exactly what I am talking about.

I'm not sure if I need to remove that metal part coming out of the plastic in the first image or if I just need to cut off the ends of these wires and buy new wire connectors (if they are called that). If I do need to buy new 'wire connectors', I'm not sure where to look online; I can't find them anywhere.
