New to forum - Maytag side by side water filter stuck

We just purchased a new house and got a used Maytag side by side with ice maker and water dispensing. THe water filter is located in the upper right roof of the fridge and I cannot remove it for replacement. I have not hooked up water to it yet and do not intend to until I get the filter replaced. Any suggestions? Once I get it removed and replaced (provided it can be done without breaking anything) I will then clean the system. Any recommendations on filter removal and system cleaning are greatly appreciated.

I will update the post with the model number after lunch - I took a picture of the nametag but of course I cannot read it well enough to enter it at this time.
