Kenmore fridge making odd sounds

Recently, we replaced our 30-year-old Admiral fridge with a new Kenmore top-mount fridge (no ice maker). So far, it seems to work just fine. Food is cold, and the freezer freezes. However, it makes all sorts of strange noises. The most common, and very obvious, sound it makes is what I would describe as an asthmatic groaning. As it's running, it will make this urrrrrrrrrrr-urrrrrrrr-urr-urrrrrrrr noise. It's not a regular rhythm, and it will sometimes do it just a little, and other times it will do it a lot.

Does this description sound familiar to anyone? Is it a normal sound for modern fridges? As I said, it seems to be operating fine, otherwise.
