I am replacing my old Kelvinator cooktop.
New JennAir comes with Black-Red-Bare copper ground.
Old unit has a fuse box under counter and Black-Red-White which is not used and has a connector covering it and it has a bare copper ground.
Instructions say: Caution, This is a two wire with copper ground 208/240 volt AC appliance. Copperground is chassis ground and must be connected to supply ground.
This is a two wire240 unit. Connect only to a 3 wire 120/240 volt power supply; the neutral conductor is not required for the operation of the appliance. The potential at the power supply electrical connections shall be 150 volts to ground or less. The grounding (bare) wire is connected to the frame of the unit; connect it to a separate ground.
Do I connect black to black , red to red, ground bare to ground bare wires and not use the white?
Hope someone can help, like to surprise wife with new cooktop.
