Series 80 in parts on the driveway - 2 questions

Hi all - Was trouble shooting and found a finger loose clutch and a worn plastic rubber union thingy. Ive just finished replacing both of them. Got everything back together and am experiencing this -
1) When we should see agitating or spinning I just hear a buzz/no movement and eventually I blow a fuse at the panel. I reached in and tried to manually turn the steel drum and no go - not even a budge. So this is what I did -

  • I pulled out the motor/trans/shaft again and tried to manually spin the steel drum again - and it seems to be frozen. Should the steel drum spin freely inside the plastic basin?
  • With the whole drive system out I strapped it to a cinder block next to the upright washer with harness connected - I plugged it in and set it it agitate. The motor spins fine/sounds good - the shaft seems to "agitate" fine - but I can very easily stop the shaft from any movement with 2 fingers. Should I be able to stop the shaft from moving when the motor/clutch is spinning

Thx for your help
Andy
