Kitchenaid washer leaves a black powder residue on the floor

I moved my kitcheaid washer, made by whirlpool, to clean and there is a black powdery residue all over the floor. Removed pump(fine), motor(fine) and the coupler ring is white(not black) and is fine except the walls are getting thin(I will replace it). Residue is also spattered around above the motor, especially on top of trans. Black rubber ring on top of trans is fine(what purpose does it serve?). So the question is, what could this be. I would like to replace whatever is causing it while I have the machine apart. There is no oil leaking anywhere.
