filling to the top regardless of size setting and not agitating but does spin.

Hello,
I Have a GE WDSR2080DEWW washer that is filling to the top no matter what size the load selector is set to. In addition the machine is not agitating but the drum spins fine in spin cycle. The fill cycle is not stopped when the lid is opened. I took out the lid switch seems to work? The spin cycle stops when I open the lid. Thanks for any input.
