I have a Kenmore series 80 model 110. It will fill up with water just fine, but unless you give the lid a little push when you close it, it will not start agitating. When I say give it a push, I mean that you have to push the top of the lid towards the back of the machine. You then hear the little click of something engaging. This washer does not have the same type of lid switch like I have seen on some youtube videos. My machine does not have the same type of switch with a hole in the top of the machine that is depressed when you close the lid....know what I mean? There must be something in the hinge of the lid that causes the machine to engage and disengage when you open the lid.
