Both Freezer and Fridge not cooling

Ok for over a week my Freezer ice seemed to be thawing slowly evident by water filling water/ice cube tray..but freezer as well as fridge were working. About 2 days ago both stopped working. Reading thru similar threads I did the recommended stuff...the cleaning of coils, checked both rear compressor was on as well as fan next to compressor, fan inside freezer. Well the confusion is presuming someone fix is my issue because of similarities. I had already replaced the bimetal thermostat inside today...though all fan(rear/front) and compressor running I figured in an hour or 2 it would atleast somewhat a tad cold but no......the pan has no water in it, no lines show anything frozen. but to be honest it's more confusing because fan in freezer compartment is on...and when fridge unplugged and replugged the compressor and fan start right away but when I turn it off/on thru fridge both compressor and it's fan start like 3-5 minutes later but fan inside always start right away....now I've already invested like $40 buying and picking up the bimetal......I don't want to invest in a start relay or cold control thermostat because I presume the cold control thermostat is the bimetal thermostat for my model but could be wrong. Can anyone with better knowledge help please. TIA
