I recently replaced the water & ice solenoids unit on this frige. The ice maker had been out of service for a year or so, but it's now working OK again. However, I noticed that it takes the heating coil a long time to release the cubes and I'm worried it might be putting undue strain on the cube ejecting tines and/or ejecting motor and gears.
Here's the process: Once the harvest cycle begins, the tines move from the parked (2:00 O'Clock) position, but stop once they touch the cubes and pause there for at least 1 and perhaps 2 minutes until the cubes melt enough to dislodge. Then the cycle completes as it should. I've felt the heating coil underneath and it doesn't get perceptibly warm except very close to where they connect to the control module.
Is this normal or is it a potential problem?
Much thanks! :)
