LG hidden bake element

Hi. I did some searching an discovered what a PITA it is to replace the hidden bake element......sigh....

My question - the element "arced" to the oven floor when it died, and there is now about a 1/4" hole burned right through. What do I do now - ignore it? plug or patch it somehow? or????
