Last night our Kenmore gas stove (Model 362.75875691 Serial # 7T226283P) made a loud pop while pre-heating. My wife turned the stove off, but then attempted to use the stove again a few minutes later. She said the stove heated up much faster than it has at any time since we acquired the stove (came with our house when we bought our home to years ago).
An online search seems to indicate it might be a heating element, but all of the other posts I've seen online with the problem, the oven stopped working. Ours worked fine, even better than before. I do not know exactly how old the stove is since it came with the house, but the house is 14 years old, so I am guessing it is in that same age range. Perhaps the serial # can give some indication of age.
