I have the Kenmore Elite side by side refrigerator Model number 106.56713500 and I'm having issues with dispensing ice and water. Making ice is not a problem. The first thing that went wrong was that on pushing the pad on the front to dispense ice, nothing happened. Just a faint noise but nothing evidencing any movement of the auger. Later, the touch pad for the water dispenser started to get finicky and only if you hit the right spot did you get water. That digressed to small amounts of water and now no water. I had a technician come and he removed the shaft plate for the auger, was able to make the motor turn and declared victory for my ice dispenser. He then "diagnosed" my water problem as the smart valve. The part was not available locally and was backordered from the supplier so in holding pattern there. Well, five minutes after he left, I reinstalled the ice bin and refilled it with ice and low and behold it did not work once more. I am in the process of cancelling my ticket to install the valve as I have great doubt as that will solve both of my problems. I suspect the electronics of the touch pads more than any valve. HELP!!
