Refrigerator won't stay cold/start regularly

Refrigerator and fridge suddenly started becoming warmer and warmer to the point where I now only can get it to start by playing with the 'temperature wheel' after which it usually clicks on.

There is no ice build up and when I provoke it as above in order to start, temp drops to about 36 in fridge and 18 in freezer but then it stops. There is no ice buildup on coils, neither below nor inside freezer and fan in back is running when it is on. I've manually turned around the defroster timer knob in front which has no effect.

I assumed this was a thermostat problem and replaced it, but the problem persists. Turning it to off and then on or pulling/inserting power cable won't get it to start, only way has been to play with main wheel in freezer.

My limited DIY is reaching its end and parts are now starting to cost more, as my next guess would be the temperature control (it doesn't seem to have a separate sensor?) or possibly the run capacitor although I assume it wouldn't run at all if that was the case.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
