I have a 20-something year-old Kenmore washer that is a top load, I just replaced the agitator dogs AND the couplers too due to it not spinning and agitating.

That part all seems to be working fine...
I did before, and I still do have a wobble due to not being level, that may play into this.
My problem now is that when it spins, and I deliberately shut it down by removing my screwdriver in the lid switch slot, the washer makes a huge THUD! and stops abruptly, and it really seems to stop really wobbly. It is perfectly fine though when it spins, it is not wobbling, at least it's not noticeable.
Is my problem the clutch engaging to make it stop 'too quick'? Maybe the Block Drive? Pad Suspension? Pads on the Skate Plate?
There are so many things that sound like it may be one, or all of them. I'm not really that mechanically inclined, but, I did watch some (very helpful) YouTube videos to see how to do the aforementioned work, and I understand that, it's not too hard. (I hope) My main thing is that I think I can do it, but I don't know how to properly diagnose it.
My question is, after it stops spinning, why does it make a clunk/thud noise? I'm afraid to use it, although I have been without a washer now for close to a week.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
I was reading Jake's response to someone else here and he mentioned it was maybe the "Rattles and Clunks at Shutdown", so that may be it, but I am not sure enough before I buy the parts. :)
Any help on this and I will really appreciate it, I sure don't want to have to call a repairman out, I am not working right now.
Can I use it in the meantime even though it is clunky?
Thank you!
Randy
