I have a Kenmore 106.53394300 that has been trouble free for the most part. We still like it. It is 10 years old now.
Anyway, the icemaker has stopped making ice. The unit is dead, it has stopped cycling. We still get water from the water dispenser on the door front. This is the original ice making unit.
I read this website and it sounds like the first thing to check is that the freezer light switch works. It does as you can see in the photo below.
If I need a new ice maker is it part 4317943 as indicated on the parts page? Here is the webpage I am looking at:
Kenmore Refrigerator Ice Maker Not Working - Model 106.53394300 - Repair Parts - RepairClinic.com
My icemaker has the "Acceler-Ice" feature. It looks like the front end just un-clips from the main unit. Will this just snap back on to the front of #4317943 after its plastic cover is removed? When I flip the switch form NORMAL to MAX the fan does turn on.
If you can think of any other checks to do prior to ordering I'd appreciate hearing back from you. Thanks!
