Over the past month or so my older frig developed a problem where it would sometimes freeze foods in the frig section. I figured that it was just food getting moved too close to the vents at times, so I would rearrange items and the symptom would seem to go away for a while but happen again a few days later. The symptom changed last week when I woke to everything in the frig and freezer thawing out. I transferred all the food to another frig and unplugged the unit to thaw.
After reading some forums and doing some meter tests, it appeared that the defrost sensor may be bad because the heater was definitely on and hot, so i replaced it. The new symptom is that the freezer is nice and cold, but the refig is not cold at all, 50-60 degrees after 4 hours running. Back to reading the forums, I checked the thermostat and it has good continuity and calling for cold. Checked the damper, it's a manual lever driven type on this model and seems to be open. I've even gone as far as removing the damper to allow as much air as possible to flow through the hole. Checked the Fan in the freezer section and it is running and seems to be pushing a good amount of air.
I can feel a pressure difference in the air flow through the damper with the freezer door opened vs closed, which I read could indicate a blocked return. The frig thawed for 3 days so I know there's no ice. I even snaked it with some tubing looking for something trapped in the wall between the freezer and frig, nothing found.
At the end of my wits now, any help is appreciated.
