Our Kenmore Elite, model 665.16982201 dw has started to intermittently not drain. I've had it apart and pulled out several times only to find nothing apparently wrong - put it back together and it works for a week or so then stops draining again.
Since this model reverses the engine to drain is it possible that the motor is just going bad? It seems odd that it would wash fine but not drain if there was an issue with the motor. I'd think if the motor were going bad we'd be having washing issues also and not just draining issues.
The drain is not connected to our sink. There is a 1 1/2" PVC pipe that goes into the basement with a trap that is then connected to the drain line for the sink line and then into the main waste line. At first I thought perhaps it was this funky connection but then figured it has worked perfectly fine for the prior 6 or so years so I'm guessing its not that.
Any ideas? I did take note on my last disassembly that the little black rubber check valve piece seemed fine. The cancel/drain button does not do the trick either. I can hear the motor kick on faintly but it never pumps out the standing water.
