Hi All,
I have a Frigidaire FRT18B5JB1 that is about 5 years old. It recently developed a problem where it makes a surging sound and the inside light flickers. It does this whether the door is open or closed, so I have ruled out the door switch. I have also replaced the bulb. When I plugged some Christmas lights into the same circuit that the fridge uses, I noticed that the lights flickered too (probably due to the irregular drain on the circuit).
I listened to the compressor, and couldn't find any obvious noises there. Also, the freezer fan seems really strong, not like it is struggling.
I am very handy with a multimeter. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look? I have been checking various wiring diagrams and diagnostic procedures, but they all appear a bit general. I am hoping someone can nudge me in the right direction. I was thinking that the compressor is the only component that uses enough juice to make the lights flicker, but then again I don't know a lot about refrigerators.
Thanks for any help!
Andrew
