I have this fridge that is just out of warranty. quit making ice. the ice maker is in the door. I don't a lot, but have researched and gathered the following
we replaced the ice maker assembly out of need being the holiday and such. Never tested anything, seemed like a viable option and sears had it in stock in town.
holding the sw1 and sw2 buttons on the unit, going to option 15 i think, i could verify the optics are working. although the led would not illuminate. I also read the led may not illuminate if it believes it is in a harvest cycle.
the 4 pin connector at the ice maker unit only has 6 volts a/c. will not manually start a harvest by crossing t and h. but 6 volts isnt enough either...keep reading it gets weird.
also during all this testing, both flap switches on the roof of the freezer are taped closed, and so is the flap for the ice bin, but not blocking the optic.
disconnect power to the unit, waited 1 minute. plugged back in, 115-118 v.a.c at the 4 pin plug. jumped t and h. started harvest. watched it happen. filled fine.
let the fridge go for a few days. started making ice again. made 1/3 of a bin and stopped.
checked the optics, no led, but with the button function i can verify they work by blocking the signal line and seeing the status change.
6 v.a.c at the 4 pin connector again.
no water in the ice maker, the fingers are in the center, rested position.
can not force start a harvest, i think because of the 6 volts.
is there a main motherboard that is bad? I am mechanically savvy, i could take this thing down and learn it, but i can not find any information, i.e. wiring diagrams or anything. I have visited this board before, What do you experts think about this one?
