I am troubleshooting a Kenmore Dishwasher at my rental house. Currently it fills with water and then nothing happens. No errors occur. If you hit stop, it will drain properly. I have checked the heater element (13 ohms), cleaned the filter, spun the propeller arm, and "rebooted" the unit. I tried to get into diagnostic mode but had no success using methods I found on the internet. Heated dry then hi-temp..... normal wash then heated dry.... multiple combinations of all the buttons with no luck.
After finding this forum, it appears I may have a bad wash motor. I was hoping one of the experts could chime in with their thoughts first though, perhaps with a way to run the diagnostic.
One of the things i did find is that the heating element did come in contact with the bottom basin at some point because it melted the plastic. I tried to see if the element is heating up, but was unable to test successfully, possibly because i am not getting far in the wash cycle? From my reading, this wouldnt turn on until the wash cycle actually began anyway, so it maybe moot. Plus it does ohm correctly. Any thoughts?
I removed the lower kickplate and did not find a troubleshooting guide. Its the dishwasher here if that helps Kenmore 24 in. Built-In Dishwasher (1523) : Sears Outlet
