I attempted to post yesterday, but my thread seems to have been eaten. I'm hoping this doesn't double-post.
I have an issue similar to this thread: Maytag Quiet Series 100 Fills, Won't Wash
and I'm thinking I may have a bad motor...but wanted to see if there is anything else to try before ordering a $200 part.
As in the other thread, my dishwasher fills and drains properly, but does nothing in the middle - the wash doesn't actually run. We had this issue a few months ago, but my father-in-law jiggled some wires, tapped the motor with a wrench, and everything started working again. But now it's back to the same behavior.
I found this guide which is attached below.
And ran the Field Service Test. Initially it indicated a problem with the turbidity sensor...but after removing the filter and cleaning a good bit of gunk off the bottom of the dishwasher and off the sensor itself, the test passes without issue (however I don't hear the wash motor run). When I do a Manual Test of the wash motor, I just get a faint hum.
Took everything apart and didn't see any obvious mechanical issues (ie nothing broken or jammed, motor turns fine by hand). Is there anything else to check, or should I just be ordering a new motor?
PS our water bill has spiked the past 2 months. Could be coincidence...but is it possible the grimy turbidity sensor was making the wash run longer than needed, using up our water and overworking the motor? Just a theory.
Thanks for any help/suggestions!
