1940's Monarch electric stove

Overall my stove is in good condition but I'm replacing the original wiring and cleaning things up. I've got ceramic elements and screw connectors for the wiring but none of my grounds are still attached. There is a heavy threaded place for a screw mounted to the underside of the burners and by that I mean attached DIRECTLY TO THE BURNER element. I'm assuming these are my ground connectors. It all looks pretty straight forward with black, red and white cloth wiring snaking through ceramic holders. I've been using the stove since bringing it home last summer but avoided burner I was told delivered mild shocks. Because this is a Monarch brand from the 40's its almost imposible to find any information and I'm going to be feeling my way through the process. Has anyone done this sort of thing before? I'm trying to determing things like wire gage and things like that...
Thanks... j
