Dryer Knob part?

I'm not sure what the part is need is called or sure how to install it. It's the plastic rod party under the selector knob. The seal on the inside of the knob broke and my wife was using plyers to turn it until it broke and now she tells me lol. Anyway, I'm not quite sure what the part is called or how to install it. I have a pic of the dryer and the piece that's broke but I'm not sure how to post it here. Any help would be very much appreciated.
