Good morning. I've utilized this forum in the past to help resolve some issues, but now I'm stuck and need some help. I have a GE side by side model GSS25QSWA. I'm the original owner, it's almost 7 years old now. My dispenser has been working intermittently lately. When I select, water, ice, etc., there are times when nothing will happen at all. The selector lights still work, but when the dispenser is depressed, I get nothing at all. No attempt to dispense water or ice, and no light turning on. Then a day later or so, it works fine. Now it's been a few days with nothing. I checked my connection below the door, and all appears to be well. Like I said, the lights above the button still work and beep when I select the different functions. My temp readouts still work, and if I hit the light button, my light will turn on.
Here are my other 2 lingering issues...First, my water line freezes within the freezer door. This has been happening for a few years. Is there any easy fixes to this besides the redneck approach I've been taking which consists of sticking some weed-wacker string (unused) in the tube and pulling it out every time it freezes? Also, I've been keeping the freezer at 0.
Likely related, but still troublesome, my water reservoir has frozen twice, and sprung a leak. I replaced the original a few months ago when it first happened, and now it's happened again to the replacement. I keep the freezer and refrigerator at the recommended temps. There have been times when my wife pulled out the string and never replaced it, so then the line sits frozen for awhile because we are too lazy to deal with it. I'm sure this doesn't help the reservoir issue because there isn't a lot of water flow, but I don't think it should be freezing.
Any input on the above would be much appreciated, thanks
Joe
