We have a Kenmore 665.17269402 dishwasher that has an intermittent leak problem. Dishwasher is now about 6-1/2 years old, but the problem has been ongoing for about 3 years.
When the problem occurs, it leaks through the float switch assembly, Taking off the kick plate, the float switch in not stuck, it moves freely. It seems that the water level is not usually high enough to lift the float switch (we make sure that the float doesn't have any debris on it as well), but occasionally it will reach the bottom of the door when opened.
It usually gives no problems for 3-6 months, then for some reason it will leak every load for 3-4 days, and then is OK again for a few months. We are using the same detergent all the time, so I don't think that has any effect.
Is the float used for normal fill indication or last-ditch shutoff? If not for normal use, what is supposed to trigger the fill cycle to stop?
Thanks for your help.
