Hi all,
I have a Kenmore 90 Series Dryer 110.79912990. Received it from a friend and they've told me the dryer works for a one or two loads, overheats, then stops working. They wait awhile, then it works again. I opened up the dryer and cleared out tons of lint inside (motor was covered in lint). I tried it and began to work. One push of the Push Start did not get the motor going. I have to hold it down for 2-3 seconds before it started going on its own. After a few loads, the same issue came back, it would overheat and no longer stay on when the PTS is held down for a few seconds. I could smell something burning or being fried in the control panel when the PTS is held down for more than a few seconds. I've read on other blogs that the motor was going out and someone recommended I switch out the motor. I purchased a used working motor and this time it still has the same issue. It runs a lot quieter now at least. So I hold down the PTS to try and keep it going but to no avail. I just smell more of a possibly fried/frying board. The heating works, I just don't know for sure why it doesn't stay on now. I'm assuming both motors are fine considering its the same issue.
Just checked the control board and I don't see any burns. The smell came more from the Timer. Could this be the culprit? Or something else?
Please help me troubleshoot. Thank you!!
