GE Profile Propane Ranges - Igniter question

I recently had an issue with the oven igniter. It's a rectangular type. I found the Norton replacement online and I installed it.

It now glows and the oven lights.

However, I noticed it continues to glow. I also noticed that the broiler igniter glows when using it as well. I'm not sure how long it stays on. I only watched it for a couple of minutes but it looks like it never goes off.

Are these things supposed to stay on after the propane is lit?
