Good day, all.
OK, to cut to it...
1. The unit is missing the ice tray shelf, so the ice has to fall a ways. It sometimes falls down the back of the freezer.
2. One day the fan in the freezer was making a noise so I gently tapped it with my hand and it stopped.
3. The next day (Super Bowl Sunday,) I noticed the ice was soggy and quickly realized we had a problem. I surmised that perhaps a sliver of ice had made its way through one of the slots to the fan and caused a problem, but who knows.
4. I kicked the breaker for 15 minutes or so and the unit started back up and ran fine for a few days. Then it shut down again. This has been going on ever since, only it had begun to take more like half a day with the breaker off before it would restart. Luckily we have another fridge and upright freezer in the garage.
5. Recently I turned the house freezer way up to maintain about -15 degrees or so. The unit ran for many days and cycled off and on as designed. Yesterday I turned the dial back down to normal. The unit shut off and I began to hold my breath. Sure enough... this morning the freezer was about 35. It wasn't the setting. Turning it up to full again did nothing.
6. Well this time I turned the freezer dial all the way off and then on again. It fired right up and is now cooling as normal. I just heard some ice fall.
Any thoughts?
