Restoration help/advise on a 1956 Philco fridge

Hello all, new to the place and I have been looking to no avail on a thought I had. This is my second fridge referb (sort of, Stripped the last one to metal and gave to friend when I moved) and I understand how to take apart the fridge just fine and I was wondering one thing. Is is possible to make these oldies more efficiently? I had a thought for insulation and I can't find anyone to give me a thumbs up or down. I was going to rip out the old brown nasty stuff and instead of using fiber I was wondering if I could use the canned "great stuff" and just spray in a bunch of the foam insulation filling all gaps and getting a good coverage, would I get a better R value and be able to keep more cold in? I just can't think of what would be best. Please advise in any way possible, I would love to make this fridge more energy efficiently and better insulated I just don't know if it would be worth doing or a good idea or not. Thanks again:confused:
