1951 Frigidaire Relay Replacement

Following the advise on a previous thread I replaced a broken relay on my 1951 Frigidaire Refrigerator. The relay seems to be working fine and the freezer plates are getting cold, but the relay is super HOT to the touch. Is this normal or does it indicate another problem? I have replaced all of the wiring on the fridge.
