I have a Trivection oven circa 2005, model number JT930. The oven is/was slow to heat and I hear relays firing like crazy at times.
Thinking this was a slam dunk broken element, I pulled the back off to access the wiring to the bottom bake element and metered the element, 22 and 63 ohms, just like it's supposed to be. I then pulled the top "dust cover" to expose the electronics, entered service mode and seem to have 240V where it was supposed to. That's when I noticed something strange, I couldn't hear the relays firing over and over like they had been and the oven was heating fast just like the olden days. When I put the top/dust cover back on the clicking returns immediately. If I open the cover just a crack (about an inch at back - I used a screwdriver handle), the clicking stops immediately (see video). The oven started heating when I cracked it open the first time, I then started shooting video to capture the click start/stop.
So, before I drop 300 bones on a main power board, I thought I would ask folks who are more schooled than me. What do you think is going on with the slow warm, and all the clicking?
Thanks in advance,
JW
