KicthenAid KERA205PSS4 pruchased 7/2007. No issues to date except broken warming button, which btw we never use:) All of a sudden the warming light came on and coil warmed. When trying to turn off, the warming button snapped in two and the saga began.
During my novice investigation I caused more damage not realizing the wires connected to the warming button had become frayed and sparked against covering, now blackened. Quickly turned off circuit breaker and unplugged range.
Warming button part number is 9757406BL but when searching online apparently part number W10163902 is the new replacement.
The black wire has singed the connector right off, the grey and white appear to be ok. I opened the back of the oven and this wire goes all the way down to the innards of the oven, all tightly wrapped/taped along the way.
My dilemma/question. I cant see replacing the entire wire, im guessing I need to somehow get a new clip onto the end of the bare wire that can connect to the new warming button. What part is needed to attach to the end of the wire so it can connect to the new warming button? And is this something that clips on and I can do?
And secondly can I use electrical tape or an electrical cap/end cap to cover this wire and use the oven until the new parts arrive or is this a fire/sparking danger?
Thanks for your help. I included some pictures if it is helpful.
