Dryer Element Getting Too Hot

Hello all, my dryer is 2 years old and all of a sudden the element is getting way too hot and the heat box gets so hot you cant touch it. I tested the resistance on the thermostat and thermal cut-off fuse and both read 0 (zero). I checked the element for any possible grounding issue and none found. I am going to check the thermostat to see if it cuts off on heat applied, as soon as I figure out the best way. The vent is clear and I even disconnected the vent to make sure. There is no dust, etc. on parts mentioned.
Looking for some help.
