I've been reading some other threads in my feeble attempt to solve the mysterious ice maker & no ice issue. All of a sudden, earlier in the week the ice maker decided to stop producing ice. No warnings, no noises, just no ice! I'm in a troubleshooting limbo state right now. Here is what I know: When I disassembled the ice maker, there weren't any cubes or water in the tray; the arm was down, and nothing seemed out of place, the "ICE" word was on in the refrigerator control panel--just not ice. I've removed the housing and ice maker unit and took a look--nothing seems odd or strange.
Last night, I moved all the freezer items to the garage freezer and turned off my Sub Zero and left the door open---this was my attempt to thaw out the water line. After about 9 hours, I turned back on the unit, used a turkey baster, and put water into the ice maker tray. I haven't been home yet but am hopeful that the cycle will start up and things will just kick back into normal operating mode and behavior.
My Questions: Am I totally off base with my troubleshooting? Is there a way to manually cycle the ice maker? (I read online others use a conductor into a 2 pin holes--but I didn't see any pin holes on my unit). If not ice, what should I check next and how? Seems like some valves or electic parts need to be tested. I'm not an electrician, but my brother has some meters that I'm sure he'll lend me (or I can buy from Home Depot).
Thanks for any help and your comments/suggestions.
