I am concerned with the compressor power draw on this refrigerator. The amp reading is 1.4 and the watt reading is 152. This data comes from a wall mounted Kill A Watt P3 unit. The nameplate calls for 11.6 amps max. The spec sheet calls for 71 KWH per month without a food load. I ran the numbers and with this power draw, this unit would have to run 64% of the time. This looks OK but I cant understand where the 11.6 amp rating comes from. I checked the compressor current draw immediately upon energization after removing the frost build up on the evaporator (the defrost heaters on this unit were inoperative and were removed. Replacements are on order) the current was 2.6 amps. I expected more. Could someone with knowledge of this unit please comment on these readings? The unit is back in service now in limp along mode awaiting the new parts. The freezer side is running -11F and the fresh food side is at 44F. I would like to see the fresh food side lower and I am hoping that it will improve once the defrost heaters are replaced. Comments welcomed.
