This is a freestanding Kenmore Elite ice maker. If I use the chemical cleaners about every couple weeks all is good. If not the ice gets thinner and thinner until no ice is produced. Coils have been cleaned and water filter is in place. It seems like the water runs for a very long time after resivoir is full [ much water goes out the over flow ]. As ice production slows I change button from normal to double ice and that helps for a few days, then red cleaning light comes on and all production stops. If turned of for several hours to unfreeze some unknown area ther is no change on restart. This unit has had several repairs over the years [made in 1999] and I refuse to do the shop thing again. Last time [couple years ago] I gave up and took it in for same issue, they just kept replacing parts at a guess and charged me over $600 in parts alone including curcuit board.
