Buzzing noise from washer at beginning of each cycle, cycle will continue after pushing on front of

My Maytag washer makes a buzzing noise at the start of each part of the cycle. I can make it stop the noise and continue the cycle by pushing/jarring the front of the washer. If left without action, it will shut itself down and makes a burning smell with water in the drum. I then unplug the washer for a while and come back and it will continue on. We replaced a bad lid switch a couple of months ago and this started sometime later.

Any ideas for DIY solutions before I call a repairman?
