Whirpool Side by Side not cooling after cleaning...

Hello, this question pertains to my Whirpool side-by-side, model #ED25PEXHW01. It says it has a manufacture date of August 2000.

On Monday (3 days ago) we decided to clean the fridge. It has been 3 years since we moved it into our new house and the interior was getting kind of yucky. We also have 3 cats - so 3 years of hair and dust! We were not experiencing any issues before this, it was just getting to be pretty dirty on the inside from normal use.

The kickplate was removed and we vacuumed (fairly gently may I add) underneath. The back was also vacuumed, but we didn't remove the panel.

It took 2 days to notice, but by yesterday morning, we realized that everything in the freezer had thawed and also the fridge compartment wasn't cold. The fan(s?) seem to be running and pushing cool air out the front and cool/room temp air out the back, however, it is evident that the compressor is not kicking on. May I note that there was never any excessive frost anywhere or anything like that. I believe this is one of those "frost free" models.

Anyways, I know the complete repair history of this unit since my cousin owned it and then he gave it to me when he had to move and had nowhere for it to go. He purchased the unit new in late 2000, and about 3 years later, it was being moved and it did the EXACT same thing it is doing now (my brother lived with my cousin at the time, and now he lives with me....he remembers this happening pretty vividly!)...

...when this happened before it was still under warranty and they had a repairman come and it turned out to be the relay for the compressor. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to have a technician come out and we are pretty mechanically inclined so I'm hoping we can fix this ourselves. Again, my brother swears this is the exact same behavior from the last time it had this problem...hopefully I've given you enough information that you might be able to tell me if you think it is that compressor relay again? I hope that it is not the compressor itself. We weren't having any problems with it before and we weren't THAT hard on it when we cleaned it!

Sorry about the lengthy explanation....please let me know if I can provide any more info for you... :) Thank you for looking!
