I currently have a 7 year old Frigidaire front loading washing machine and a 9 year old Kenmore dryer. We will soon be moving into a house built in 1910, with a 2nd floor laundry room. I've already replaced the heating element on the dryer (but think I didn't get it back together right as the drum now thumps sometimes) and the washer sporadically leaks from the right side near the front. We are debating buying new units when we move instead of moving these and then having to replace them before too long.
1. Can I have a front loader in an upstairs laundry room? I've heard yes and no...
2. Are the HE top loaders decent/reliable machines? I have friends with them and love them, but a thread on here from 2006 says to avoid them - have things changed since then?
3. I'm leaning toward Whirlpool, my husband suggested Samsung as everyone seems to be offering the same set for $1200 this weekend (front load) - but I'm leary of Samsung, they strike more as an electronics (phones and tablets) than appliance manufacturer...
Any input/advice would be great.
Thanks!
